Land & Leute: Madarareiter

Day trip to the monument Madara Rider (UNESCO) and a local winery

The country & the local people

The first stop of the excursion is the natural phenomenon of Stone Forest („Pobiti Kamani“). For thousands of years, nature has formed stones that turn into impressive sculptures. Stone pillars up to 8 – 9 meters high, hollow or solid cylinders, and a large number of individual stones are formed, which are scattered over the entire area.

Then visit the world-famous rock relief Madara Reider, which is almost as old as Bulgaria itself – over 1300 years. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for decades.

We will offer you the typical Bulgarian lunch in the open nature. There is a view of vineyards, hazelnut plantations, and forested predecessors of the Balkan Mountains.

In the village of Blaskovo, you will visit a horse farm, where you will learn a lot about the „Lipizzans“. The locals are very proud that a stallion from the stud farm will take part in the Olympic Games in Paris!

Finally, enjoy three different wines from the Salla Winery, which has received several awards at home and abroad.
